Meet SACS Technology Coach

Name: Matt Brenner

Education: Master of Science in Educational Leadership, Purdue University

Family: I am happily married to my wife, Michelle. We have three children, Jackson, Malachi, and Grace and two dogs, Wrigley and Mackey.

Hobbies/Interests: Outside of work, I am an avid sports fan. My favorite teams are the Chicago Cubs and Purdue Boilermakers. I enjoy watching movies, playing video games, and learning about how technology is shaping the educational landscape.

How Can I Help?

My specific area of focus is partnering with all teachers to meet their individual needs in the area of technology integration. To meet that goal, I can assist you in a number of ways.

Here are a few ideas for how I can serve you:

1. Curriculum Planning--Brainstorm ideas about purposefully infusing technology as you design your lessons and create your content. This can be done with individual teachers or with a group of teachers during collaboration/grade level/department meetings.

Example Teacher Request: I have an upcoming unit and I want to use technology to assess my students. What are my options? 

2. Classroom Assistance--Work with students as they are using the technology you have chosen to utilize for your lessons

Example Teacher Request: I am trying out a new app with my students and would like extra help with getting my students started on it.

3. Coaching--Offer support, feedback, and coaching as you teach your lessons that integrate technology

Example Teacher Request: I want my students to move from being passive consumers with their devices to interactive producers. Can you help me with this?

4. Professional Development--Provide personalized/differentiated training in Canvas, Google, or other instructional technology tools. We have many great tools already available to us, but do not have the time to learn more about what they can do. I can meet with you and provide training to take your use of these tools to the next level.

Example Teacher Request: How can my students use Google slides for more than just giving presentations? OR How do I use Canvas outcomes to track student learning of academic standards?

5. Finding Resources--Research and locate Web 2.0 resources for unmet needs/wants and assist with implementation

Example Teacher Request: I want my class to connect with other classrooms around the world. How can I make this happen?

6. Technology Integration--Teach lessons that incorporate technology standards like coding, digital citizenship, and media creation (movies, podcasts, graphic design, etc.)

Example Teacher request: How can my students learn the basics of computer science without using their devices?

Because each teacher's needs are unique, and your time is precious, please fill out a "Tech Coach Request" ticket. This will permit me to learn about your individual request, so that I can best be prepared to assist you in a timely manner.
